DS: Try these two hotels:
www.hotel-Eder.de
www.hotel-jedermann.de
From either of those spots, you can walk to the city center, and several good bier gartens %26amp; halls. The airport is 43 mins from the City Center on S-Bahn... Take # S1 or S8..

I would try to stay away from the area around the trainstation (Hauptbahnhof), there are some shady figures and it is pretty much the red light district.
The choice of hotel depends on your budget, but as long as it is located near the Marienplatz (center of the city), or the old town, everything pretty much is in walking distance.
From the airport you will take the speed train, it%26#39;s call %26quot;S-Bahn%26quot;, you take either the S1 or the S8. Tickets you have to buy at the airport, if you are on the train and they catch you without one, there is a hefty fine for it and they really don%26#39;t buy any excuses, because in their defense they really HAVE heard them all.
The train brings you directly from the airport to anywhere in Munich, it leaves about every 20 minutes and the ride (to the center) takes about 45 minutes.
When you take the train back to the airport ask for the %26quot;bayern ticket%26quot;, it%26#39;s a special ticket that lets you take another four people for one price with you (might come in handy with so many people). It is sold on every automate or in the train stations and people speak English everywhere.
oh did I mention that particularly September is a very lovely month in that city?

Can you buy the Bayern ticket at the airport?
|||
Of course. you can a BayernTicket in the central area, just before you go down to the trains. 28€ for a group ticket bought from a machine, 30€ if you buy it from a person at the counter.
|||
To travel from the airport to Munich you don%26#39;t need a Bayern Ticket. Just buy a MVV partner day ticket for the whole MVV area (EUR 18,00). Bayern Ticket makes only sense if you travel beyond the MVV area.
The MVV partner day tickets are good for 2-5 persons (thus you%26#39;ll need 2 of them with 10 persons). They are valid from the time of validation (stamping) till 6am next day.
They cover all local public transport
- regional trains (RB, RE, IRE, ALX, BOB)
- S-Bahn
- U-Bahn (metro)
- trams
- buses

Bayern Ticket covers whole Bavaria. It includes the MVV and all other such networks inside Bavaria. It is valid
Mo-Fr: from 9am till 3am next day
Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day
Again valid for up to 5 persons. And again covering all local public transport.

Spent 100 nites in my life in and around the Hauptbahnhof,,, never had a problem. You could try the Hotel Am Viktualienmarkt.. Right in the middle of the shopping and center area.
|||
Last August My wife, my 2 children and I stayed at the Wallis hotel. Nice and clean hotel and good buffet breakfast with helpful staff. The hotel is in a safe area and walking distance to Marienplatz.
|||
The Wallis is a very good suggestion.
