Which area to stay in, Dec 24 to Dec 30

We are planning a trip from Dec 24 to Dec 30 in Munich. Which area would be better to stay in ? We%26#39;d like to be near the main attractions preferably by foot.

Also, is the area near the railway station safe?

If you want to be close to the main attractions then you have answered your own question. And if you had a look at similar posts both of your questions are answered on numerous occasions. Have fun.

The main train station is about 15-20 minutes walk from Marienplatz, the main square with the Rathaus. Many tourist sights are near there. There are many hotels near both the main station and Marienplatz. One good thing about Munich is the transit system; it is easy to use ,especially if you buy a day pass or multi-day pass. Munich is a decent size town with some dispersion of sights.

For early December we found a hotel on HRS near Sendlinger Tor as it has a Ubahn station and is about 10 minutes walk from both the train station and Marienplatz. There are many choices like this.

That is where we have stayed for the past three visits and are booked again for December. It is convenient and we like two of the hotels there very much, Sofitel and Le Meridien.
