Boat trips

I%26#39;m off to Hamburg with my family in 2 weeks! We%26#39;re 4 people, so we%26#39;re planning on getting the following 9-Uhr-Gruppenkarte (hvv.de/fahrkarten/tageskarten/gruppenkarte/) for €8.95/day. I heard that certain boat trips on this ticket are free! Can anybody advise me on which ones these are?

Also, are there any districts in Hamburg particularly worth avoiding? I%26#39;d be grateful for any help - thanks in advance!

Thanks for your answer - that link is very useful! Are there areas worth avoiding? Oh, and are there any public/free events that week? Is Halloween celebrated in Hamburg? Thanks again!

Hej,

I assume you found the ferry-info on the HVV-site? They will be marked as part of HVV as well so you should be fine.

If it comes to areas to avoid, that%26#39;s difficult. It really depends what you are looking to avoid. On the one side of the Hauptbahnhof (centralstation) you have the shopping streets (the city centre). On the other side of the station you%26#39;ll want to avoid the past the main street parallel to the station- it gets a bit dogdy on two streets (some red light and drug scene). It%26#39;s nothing to worry about during the day, but a family with children may want to avoid it. The next one %26quot;Lange Reihe%26quot; is quite nice to walk through with cafe´s and small shops. Same goes for Reeperbahn and %26quot;those%26quot; side streets (off the police station). It%26#39;s not dangerous or anything on the main street, but - depending on the age of the children - you don%26#39;t really need to be there. There are loads of pubs, bars and clubs around and you%26#39;ll be fine. Well, it%26#39;s basically as in any other large city. Just have a look around when walking in side alleys and if you get the feeling that you%26#39;re in the wrong place, turn around...

Stick to the city centre and the harbour and the old storage houses (walk from Landungsbrücken %26quot;back%26quot; towards the city). There will be plenty to see here.

Hope this help.

Ha en trevlig resa till Hamburg!
