Where to do from Frankfurt

I%26#39;ve just bought a discount plane ticket to Frankfurt for 4 day visit period and now i%26#39;m not sure what to do there... So I%26#39;m thinking on taking a train or bus and head some where near...

Can anyone suggest any city near by?

I%26#39;m staying from 28 Nov. to 01 Dec.09

Thank you for the help!

To Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) - or are you flying with Ryanair to (Frankfurt-)Hahn Airport (HHN)?

|||

Yes, its Ryanair, so Hahn...

Meanwhile i%26#39;ve been seaching this forum and I understand that the best to be seen in short time is in frankfurt or maibe Mainz?!? Is this correct? Is there anything %26quot;must see before dieing%26quot; nearby? 150 km distance?

Thank you!

If arriving at Frankfurt/Hahn, then the nearby city of Trier would be a good base for exploring that city as well the nearby Mosel River region.

If arriving at Frankfurt/Main, then many other possibilities, too: Frankfurt itself, Mainz, or the Middle Rhein Valley.

Check your reservation, then search the above on TA--hundreds or posts--then check for accommodation recommendations once you%26#39;ve narrowed your search. ...Lots to see and do in this region...

Close to Hahn are in first place the Moselle and Middle Rhine Valley.

Trier in the Moselle Valley is a good choice.

You could work your way from Trier along the Moselle and Rhine to Mainz.

There are shuttle buses from/to Hahn from either place.

For traveling between Trier and Mainz you can use the Rhineland-Palatinate Ticket. A day ticket covering all regional trains and other local public transport (buses, trams) in the state Rhineland-Palatinate. This ticket is valid

Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day

%26quot;Must see before dying?%26quot; Yes, that would be Cologne, 1 hour from Frankfurt by train. The cathedral is awesome, and I have seen a lot of cathedrals. Make sure you take the tour. Then, go take a short cruise on the Rhine with K-D Lines.

Hi again,

I%26#39;ve decided to spend the first night in Cologne and the other two in Frankfurt.

So can you please help me to understand how to get transport from frankfurt hann to Cologne and from there to frankfurt center.

Where can I buy the tickets?

|||

I wouldn%26#39;t go to Frankfurt but go to Dusseldorf instead. And perhaps from their take a boat trip on the Rhine to Wiesbaden or Rudesheim.

What are your interests? Museums, art, history, Romans, archeology, Gothic churches, scenery, food, shopping, concerts?

Frankfurt can offer you all of that and keep you busy, contrary to what our friend from the Netherlands thinks.

Try 46 museums, world class art exhibits, concerts of every sort, fests of all kinds, beautiful medieval churches, a long, rich Jewish history and with one of the most meaningful Holocaust Memorials I have ever seen, and wonderful old neighborhoods filled with turn of the century architechture

Mainz is nice and has lots to see, but I don%26#39;t think it can compare to Frankfurt.
