I just purchased a ticket on this website and it says %26quot;not booked train%26quot;
if the site asked for sleeping preferences and did the credit card transaction ....do we need to check at the train station for confirmation?

If you used google translate, then I think it means no seat reservation...

%26gt; I just purchased a ticket on this website and it says %26quot;not booked train%26quot;
Where? On the website or on the ticket?
%26gt; if the site asked for sleeping preferences and did the credit card transaction
Was this booking for a night train?
%26gt; ....do we need to check at the train station for confirmation?
No. You just need to bring the printout and the credit card you used to pay for the ticket.

I always get an email confirmation immediately when I purchase tickets on the DB site. I just looked at the last set and they show all the info, including seat reservations.
Did you create an account? You can pull up the reservation and review it if you did.

thank you for the prompt replies
I did set up an acct with DB. The first overnight train booking confirmed with seat numbers , saying the ticket was valid for the booking train. The other ticket also for overnight train says %26quot;no train confirmed%26quot;. I assume that because it is during Christmas day DB hasn%26#39;t decided if this train will run, and once DB
has better idea about that train it will let me or I will just need to check at train station. Hopefully, I can get on another train that goes to my destination

Aren%26#39;t the tickets not in German only? Than you better post the original phrase in German.
You probably have now a flexible ticket for a night train. These trains do however require reservation.
Was this for a night train crossing the borders? Than it could be that the other railway company has not yet published their 2010 timetable (valid from 13. December 2009 on) yet and thus booking was not yet possible.
Another reason could be that the train was already booked out.

I don%26#39;t understand what it means %26quot;Not a specific train booking%26quot;
This is the information on the ticket details:
One-Way Ticket, 3 travellers (age: 44, 57, 18 years), 2nd class, Bed, 3 persons in Economy 3-berth cabin, München - Venezia S. Lucia
Standard fare
Full flexibility (not a specific-train booking). Exchange and refund free of charge before 1st day of validity, exchange and refund charge of EUR 15 as from 1st day of validity.
Inkl. Nachtzugaufpreis, train with reservation obligation included (Fare incl. Res.), Through reservation not free of charge
|||
This is a combination of a flexible standard fare ticket and a night train surcharge.
In combination not that flexible as you have still to reserve for the night train (this is however covered by the night train surcharge).
Discounted special tickets are only valid for the connection bought for. While with a standard fare ticket you can use any train (= Not a specific train booking) inside the validity period of the ticket.
You wrote that reservation was not possible. I.e. there are no car and seat/bed numbers on the ticket?
When are you traveling? Close to Christmas or New Year?
You can make the reservations at any DB counter after arriving in Germany. However if you plan to travel close to Christmas or New Year this will be most likely too late. If is not yet already too late. The capacity of night trains is limited and there is no option to offer more capacity over these days.

If it is of ANY help to you I have had excellent service when I%26#39;ve had questions/concerns with DB ticketing, etc., by CALLING THEM...there will be no problem with speaking English and IMO it is worth the money to do so..otherwise you%26#39;ve received what i think is interesting but not necessarily helpful information..peace of mind is worth MILLIONS.
