Me and my friends are coming into Munich on the 24th and flying out on the 27th of December.
I imagine the Christmas markets will be closed, but what other things are there to do?
Also, what do Germans do for Christmas dinner?

Going to church. Otherwise, not much.
Germans celebrate Christmas in their families. It is a quiet family holiday, no party time as in the English speaking world. No one goes out for dinner on Christmas Eve. Expect most restaurants to be closed. Pubs and clubs will reopen late in the evening. On Christmas Day those restaurants that are open will often have fixed holiday menus that require prebooking. Book a hotel that offers a programme for the holidays, otherwise you may have a problem. Shops close on Christmas Eve in the early afternoon and will only reopen on Monday Dec 28. The Christmas holidays are not the best time to visit Germany.

My opinion of visiting Germany over the actual Christmas holidays is similar to BlandineForberg%26#39;s. However, as both the 25th and 26th are official holidays, museums may possibly be open, and on the 27th almost all should be open as it is a Sunday and most museums close on Mondays. The zoo may be open every day of the year. Probably it is best to check with specific places to see whether they will be open or when, as it can be difficult to predict even for a resident.
