...whats your budget?

Try Mittenwald, easily accessible via train from Munich. Beautiful small town surrounded by the Alps.

Hi,

Sounds like you%26#39;re looking for Mittenwald. It is THE quintesesential Bavarian village surrounded by mountains. Easy by train, as the old town pedestrian zone is just a 5 or so minute walk from the station. For really nice views, ride the Karwendelbahn cable car in Mittenwald.

Was in Mittenwald yesterday for lunch (by car). Even by train you could possibly get to Mittenwald, up the Karlwendelbahn for the views and maybe stop off in Garmisch on the way back (we managed this yesterday easily but we were by car)

|||

direct trains to Mittenwald from Munich Hauptbahnhof are normally available - 1hr 53mins. All trains via Garmisch - Garmisch to Mittenwald only 20mins

|||

Mittenwald, Salzburg, Eagles Nest, %26amp; Lake Chimsee - just to name a few my friend!

You have several threads going asking this same question. Suggest you keep to one thread and those trying to help will only have to respond in one place.

Ummm...the Eagle%26#39;s Nest is closed in the winter, and Herrenchiemsee without the fountains...hardly worth visiting in my opinion.

|||

My mistake.. Eagle%26#39;s nest is indeed closed, I was thinking of a Spring vist.i

On that note... My friends and I from Florida were planning on visiting the Eagle%26#39;s Nest and surrounding area in Spring, when airfare is less than Summer, etc. I was thinking late April.. perhaps 2011..
