Hotels in Old Town

Could someone recommend a good hotel in or near Old Town as we were told this is the best spot to stay for restaurants and pubs. Thanks

The first time we went to Dusseldorf we stayed in the Mercure on Stressemann platz. While not in the old town it is only around a 15 minute walk to the heart of the old town. The walk takes you onto the Konnigsalle and it%26#39;s a lovely walk.

The hotel does very good bar food and there is an excellant Thai Restaurant just around the corner called SIla Thai. Also there is a Brauerei just one street behind which also serves really good food.

The Train station is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel door.

We got a good deal with www.booking.com for this hotel.

I seldom stay in Best Western Chain in North AMERICA, but I like them in Europe. Usually clean, good location, good breakfast.

Here is one (google translate)...

Take a look at Orangerie which is in a very good location in Altstadt. Right at the edge of Altstadt is Carat, also a good place. We have stayed in both. Orangerie is more modern, but rooms a bit smaller. Carat is a bit more traditional. Both very reasonably priced with good breakfasts included.
