german holiday itinerery advice needed!

Here Goes!

We are planning a trip to europe next summer starting on the 5th July until 1st August, there will be 4 adults traveling, myself and my husband and my in-laws. In-laws have travelled extensively in Germany as my father in law was born there but was taken away at the outbreak of war.

My husband spent all his holidays in Germany as a child but has not been for many years.

We need to find reasonably priced accomodation (approx £50 per room per night), we intend to mainly visit places that are new to most of us and certainly to me as i have not been before

Our intended route is:

Calais

Trier

Cochem

Bamberg

Dresden (father in laws birthplace)

Prague

Vienna

Saltzberg

Munich

Zurich

Bern

Geneva

Lyon

Dijon

Paris

Calais

I will obviously be posting on all the relevent TA forums re. the other countries but if anyone would like to share their knowledge about the above please feel free!

we are flexible in our itinerery and realise that it may need to be altered.

Thanks in advance

Looking for affordable accomodation I recommend the Etap hotels of Accor Group. Very basic, but clean and good priced. Mostly located outside down town (often in business areas). A bit more expensive, but still affordable and much better located are the Ibis hotels (also Accor Group). New and nicer and better located than Etap are the Motel-One hotels.
