Munich for 10 yr Old Daughter

Our entire family is travelling - older boys but 10 yr old daughter. Any ideas on age appropriate activities for her?

Hi eurotripper22,

What does she normally do at home? What are her interests or hobbies? Is she into sports? History? Is she a tekkie?

Also, what time of year will this be? Will it be this winter, next spring, or next summer?

Hope to hear more!

A 10 year old can be and should be interested in more than just playgrounds and fun parks. If you don%26#39;t exaggerate the dosage, a child that age can join any sightseeing that the rest of the family does (ok I%26#39;d exclude concentration camps, torture museums and such). But kids can be impressed by beautiful old buildings and fascinated by things in a museum, maybe even more than adults. Many museums have special guidebooks for children, a quiz to take along, or similar. 10 year olds are the favourite clientele of museum people because they are curious to discover new things, already know a bit about the world, and do not yet have that typical teenager coolness and lack of interest in anything an adult suggests.

Two very different %26quot;wow%26quot; churches: gothic Frauenkirche for its sheer size, and the little baroque Asam church in Sendlinger Straße for its colours, paintings and ornaments.

Residenz: The walk through the historical rooms is very long and can become tedious, so I would not do that. But I%26#39;d see the treasure chamber with all those elaborate masterpieces full of little details to discover.

One of Germany%26#39;s best museums for kids (and adults): Deutsches Museum: www.deutsches-museum.de/index.php?id=1%26L=1

Climb the steeple of Old St Peter next to Marienplatz.

Watch the Glockenspiel at the town hall.

There is a toy museum in the old town hall.

If walking becomes too much, hire a rickshaw for a tour of the town centre, there are always some waiting in Marienplatz.

Nymphenburg palace with the big park and the little buildings in there.

Art museums - depends if she likes looking at pictures or not. The most appealing collection will be Neue Pinakothek, 19th century, impressionism and classical modern.
