feedback wanted if you have been to the Passion Play

My husband and I are going to be close to Oberammergau in September %26#39;10. Since the passion play only happens every ten years we wonder if we should try and go. We are in our 60%26#39;s, Protestant, and don%26#39;t speak German. We know it will be very crowded. Can anyone give me a feeling for what our experience would be. Is it meaningful for English speakers? Is it too touristy? Is it a meaningful spiritual experience or a show?Do the hotel prices, etc. get jacked way up? We will have a car.
