Had to forego the Franconia portion of a vacation last month. Would like to return in the second half of April or early May instead. Just wondering how is the weather that time of year, which clearly is an impossible question to answer.....Generally, is the weather fairly nice, or dank and dismal? Thanks.

Usually it%26#39;s fairly pleasant. Franken is very much a wine growing region, so that gives you an idea what the general climate is like.

Impossible to predict. Every year is different. In April you can have all possible varieties of weather within one hour. It changes quickly, that is about the only rule you can rely on. Another rule of thumb is that there usually are a couple of cold, even frosty days in early or mid May, but it is hard to predict when exactly. With the recent changes of climate the old weather rules are not reilable any more.
Tender green leaves will be out, the spring flowers are in bloom, birds are singing and everything is in pretty colours. If you are okay with varying weather conditions and don%26#39;t need summer warmth at all costs, this is a fine season for travelling.
