Staying in Berlin. Which Ibis Hotel to stay in?

Hi all,

My girlfriend and I are looking to visit Berlin for a few days at the end of October. We%26#39;ve visited Germany a number of times before and have been impressed with Ibis Hotels in the past so they were naturally our first choice when looking for accomodation in Berlin.

I think we%26#39;ve narrowed it down to either the Ibis Berlin City Ost (An der Schillingbrucke 2) or the Ibis Berlin Mitte (Prenzlauer Allee 4) but we%26#39;re open to other suggestions too.

Mitte will obviously give us access to the centre of the city but I wonder if City Ost might be a better option as we%26#39;ll be much closer to an S-Bahn station and within walking distance of Warschauer Strasse which would be handy as we both like trying lots of different beers and have heard that this street tends to be the best place for this.

Having not visited Berlin before, it%26#39;s difficult to know which (if either) to opt for. Does anyone have any input?

Can%26#39;t comment on Berlin Mitte but stayed at the City Ost last October. Had a great stay. Hotel staff really helpful and friendly. Great breakfast buffet. Eventhough the hotel was busy, it seemed quiet. Didn%26#39;t hear much noise in the evenings. Room -good size and clean. Would definitely stay there again.

The East side of Berlin is definitely where it%26#39;s happening. I don%26#39;t think it matters whether it%26#39;s Mitte or Ost. The transport network is so good in Berlin. Just plan what you want to see carefully. There%26#39;s so much to do. I%26#39;ve been to Berlin 3 times and still haven%26#39;t done all that I%26#39;ve wanted to do. Hoping to go back for New Year.

Have a great time!

Another option which is much more central for sightseeing is Ibis Potsdamer Platz on (actually on Anhalter Strasse). It%26#39;s officially in Kreuzberg as the district boundary of Mitte (and incidentally a piece of the Wall still) is one block away.

Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn station, M29 bus, which goes Kreuzberg to Zoo, on your door step but many sights in walking distance. Great article about the bus route: budgettravel.com/bt-srv/…

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Etap hotel next door several times and location is fantastic.

By the way, there%26#39;s a place with 100 beers (so they say) by Potsdamer Platz Arkaden.

Hmm ... I come across this exact similar reply from Jennifer_Traveler on every thread on Berlin I open. Feels more like advertising than posting a reply.
