One day in Berlin

I suppose it%26#39;s impossible to see many things, but I would appriciate any suggestion for my one day in Berlin. Near the opera house, what shouldn%26#39;t I miss?

If time is limited, a guided tour will help you save time and see the most important sites. There are of course (expensive) private tours that would take you from your hotel when it is most convenient for you, guide you through the city with or without a car and let you see the sites that would interest you the most. If you can%26#39;t afford these, I would highly recommend one of the walking tours (with Insider Tour, Berlin Walks, etc. e.g.

http://www.insidertour.com )

That would cover the most important sites.

I would avoid the Hop-on-Hop-Off bus,

If not possible, just take the 100 bus to the Zoo station and back with the 200 bus (or the other way round): they pass through some of the city%26#39;s most important sites. There are three opera houses in Berlin and you haven%26#39;t said which one you mean, but the 100 and 200 have bus stops both next to the Staatsoper and next to the Komische Oper. If you meant %26quot;Deutsche Oper%26quot;, just take the U2 train to Zoo and start your bus tour from there.

Whether you%26#39;re taking the Insider Tour or doing it on your own with the buses (the 100/200 are not hop-on-hop-off with guidance, but regular commuter buses, which just go through some of those important sites), spend the afternoon at the Pergamon Museum or, if you%26#39;re not into museums, the KaDeWe department store.

In the evening, I would imagine that an opera would be most appropriate ;0) but aside from that, you can also go to see the lights at the Sony Centre (Potsdamer Platz), go clubbing (if that%26#39;s your thing)

The Berlin Tourist Information site has an itinerary for one day in Berlin
