New hop-on hop-off bus tour in Frankfurt

Has anyone used this service? It is supposed to have started earlier this month. Is it worth the 15 euro cost?

Considering you can pretty much walk to all the places the bus goes to, or if you want to ride around on the buses, trams, and trains, you can buy a group ticket for 8.70 € that would be valid for up to 5 people all day long in Frankfurt. I don%26#39;t think it is worth the money, unless it is pouring down rain, or the person is unable to walk very far due to age or handicaps. A walking tour for 3 hours will only cost you 12 € and you can ask all the questions you want instead of just listening to an audio tape as you whiz by the interesting things of Frankfurt. The bus doesn%26#39;t even go to the Holocaust Memorial Wall, which I think is one of the more important things to see here.

This is an old post, but I%26#39;ll give feedback since we took the hop on hop off bus in Frankfurt on October 8 or 9. If it had covered all the areas that it advertised, it would not have been worth the 15 euros charged.

On the day we rode the bus, the Sachsenhausen part of the tour was canceled due to to traffic problems, but they did not inform us of that until it was time for the bus to go there. The south side of the river tour covered nearly half of the entire tour. We asked for a partial refund but were told it was not possible. We were told to ride another bus, and it might be open later -- but we had plans for the rest of the day. So we asked if we could ride again another day. The driver said it was not possible, but when I protested he said that we could ride on his bus if we came to the stop at noon the next day. Well, we did -- but he wasn%26#39;t working and nobody else would honor our tickets.

Very disappointing! Definitely not recommended.

I have heard some other bad comments about the poor service too. Not all of it about the bus drivers, but also from the tourist office. People bought tickets at 4 in the afternoon, thinking they would be able to do a round of the city and then get on an off a few times at various places until late in the evening. Similar to Munich which runs until 10 at night I think? No one bothered to tell them that the bus stops running at 5 pm. They felt like they had also been cheated. Or they were under the impression that it was a 24 hour ticket and that the next morning they could ride some more. Nope, again, no one from the tourist office did a good job of informing these tourists.

I did go ride this bus as I wanted to see what it was like, and like I said in my first post, if it is pouring down rain or you feel like you cannot walk much, then it is ok, but other than that, it is way overpriced for what you get.

If you have had bad service, I recommend you write the City of Frankfurt as they are partnering this with Yellow Cab.

I am really sorry to hear that you had a bad experience here.

Thanks for your sympathetic reply. The hop on hop off bus was the only disappointment. Overall, we had an absolutely fantastic and wonderful experience in Frankfurt. It was quite unexpected, but we all felt very happy the entire time we visited. The food was great. The weather was nice, except for one rainy day, which we spent in the Städel Museum -- a terrific art museum with a lovely cafe!
