cost of living questions

i have a job opportunity in leipzig....with a non profit agency....looking at 1500 euros netto and 200 euro accomodation allowance....can i live on this meaning save some to send back to melbourne and travel a bit in the region...or is it travel and no savings or savings and no travel....i am fluent in germany and in another time i lived 6 years in frankfurt....i remember having trouble finding an apartment in frankfurt...what can i expect in leipzig...is it easy and what are costs of a small apartment warm....any websites to look at for costs of living...thanks

I strongly encourage you to do this. Living cost in Leipzig are not very high. You certainly can rent a nice 2-room (one bedroom) apartment for about 200 Euro per month, plus about 100 Euro side costs. Depending on your living style you should be able to save a bit AND travel around. Leipzig is very centrally located and there are plenty of options for day trips first and weekend trips later.

Thanks for both of the suggestions...the toytown forum has been super...i am getting lots of information and it has been very helpful/...the other website for the real estate has aslo been fun as it is re awakening the german language and the thoughts of apartment hunting...again thanks for the information...cheers from melbourne des
