200 Year Anniversary Oktoberfest in Munchen

Believe it or not, it%26#39;s not too early to start making plans for what will surely be the most enjoyable (Number 13 for me) Oktoberfest in Munich yet! With the economic indicators all good in Germany, France, Italy, perhaps even a little improved in the U.S. - people should have a few extra bucks for plane tix, beer, and fun next year. I am already booked, and will arrive in Munchen for 5 days, starting 9/20/2010.. If you have any questions about the fest, hotels, costs, and the city of Munchen itself, please post them here. I would recommend making hotel reservations as early as January or February, and start watching the plane fares in April 2010.

Where do you suggest making hotel reservations for Oktoberfest 2010 on a smaller budget? Looking for around a three star hotel. Should I book outside of the city, and if so, where?

No, you can book a nice, clean, three-star with a great free breakfast - within easy walking distance of the fest grounds (Theresienweise) for about 100 EUR per night... Try these three:

www.Hotel-Jedermann.de

Hotel Am Viktualienmarkt

Prosit!

Do you know if there is a younger or older crowd at these hotels? My wife and I like to meet new people around our age (32).

|||

Maybe it is a good idea to book a table for the friday evening? ;)

|||

It is only going to be my wife and I, so I don%26#39;t think I can reserve two seats. Looking forward to the festivities though.

Mu hubby and I are looking into going at the moment, and if it helps I%26#39;ve read good things about this company - .solstinoxtravel.com because they make a table reservation for you also arrange good accommodation close to the event...

I have also looked into that tour. We might do it just because you don%26#39;t have to worry about the hotel or getting a seat at a tent. The price is pretty reasonable for three days hotel compared to booking it on your own. Does anyone else have any experiece with www.solstinoxtravel.com?

What dates will you and your wife be there? You are more than welcome to hang-out with me for a day. You can count the number of American-born folks on one hand that know Munchen and the fest as well as I do my freind. Be glad to show you around town and the bier tents, etc. I will be there: 9/20 thru 9/25/10.

I will be there from September 25-29th staying at the Platzl Hotel, which I already reserved due to them already being out of rooms this year in December. It will be the first time to Germany and Oktoberfest. When is the best time to reserve flights from Chicago? They should start to be available in a couple weeks.

We plan on going next year and thought about being there for the opening. Is that a bad idea? I know it will be busy but thought it might be neat to be there for the tapping of the beer. We might be traveling with 6-8 people.
